The VioBusiness cookie policy.
A clear, honest list of every cookie and similar storage technology we use on this website, who sets it, what it's for, and how to opt out.
i.How consent works
When you first visit viobusiness.com, we show a banner with three buttons: Accept all, Reject all, or Customise (per-category toggles for Analytics and Advertising). Until you make a choice, no analytics or advertising cookies are set. Strictly necessary storage (described below) is set regardless because the site can't function without it.
We use Google Consent Mode v2, which means analytics and advertising tags signal "denied" by default and only switch to "granted" once you accept. To change your mind later, clear our consent record (instructions in section vi) and the banner will re-appear.
ii.Strictly necessary storage
Set when you visit the site, regardless of consent. Without these the cookie banner couldn't remember your choice and would appear on every page load.
iii.Analytics (loaded only with consent)
Set by Google Analytics 4 to give us aggregated, pseudonymous traffic statistics - page views, referrers, rough geography, device class. We use this to understand which pages and articles are working. We do not use it to identify you personally or to build profiles.
iv.Advertising (loaded only with consent)
Set by Google Ads and Meta Pixel so we can measure which ads bring people to the site (e.g. someone clicked a Google Ads ad and then downloaded the app). These cookies make our advertising spend traceable; they do not show third-party ads on this site.
Cookie names and lifetimes are set by Google and Meta and may change without notice. The list above reflects current behaviour and we update this page when we notice changes.
v.Third parties and where data goes
- Google LLC - Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics 4, Google Ads. Google receives traffic data when you accept analytics or advertising cookies. Google privacy policy.
- Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd. (controller for EU/UK users) and Meta Platforms Inc. (US, processor) - Meta Pixel. Meta receives traffic data when you accept advertising cookies. Meta privacy policy.
- Google Fonts - typeface delivery. Loaded regardless of consent (no cookies set, but Google receives your IP as part of any HTTP request). We plan to self-host fonts in a future revision.
When you give consent for analytics or advertising, some of your data is transferred to the United States. Google and Meta both self-certify under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and its UK extension, which the UK government recognises as providing an adequate level of data protection.
vi.Changing your mind or opting out
You have several options if you change your mind, all free and immediate:
- In our banner. Open your browser's site-data settings for viobusiness.com, clear local storage (this removes vio_consent_v2), then reload the page. The banner will reappear and you can choose differently.
- In your browser. Most browsers let you block third-party cookies entirely or block specific domains. See Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or your browser's help.
- At Google. You can opt out of personalised Google Ads at adssettings.google.com and analytics tracking via the Google Analytics Opt-out add-on.
- At Meta. Manage your Meta ad preferences at facebook.com/adpreferences.
- Privately. Use a Private / Incognito window - all storage is cleared when you close it.
vii.Inside the VioBusiness app
The mobile app is native (Swift on iOS, Kotlin on Android) and uses no cookies - cookies are a web concept. The app contains no advertising SDKs, no analytics SDKs, and sends no usage data anywhere. Your business data lives in a local SQLite database on your device. See our privacy statement for the full picture, including the optional Cloud backup tier.
viii.Changes to this policy
If we add, remove, or change any cookie or storage we set, we'll update the effective date above. If the change is material - for example, adding a new tracking provider - we'll bump the consent version (vio_consent_v2 → vio_consent_v3) so the banner reappears and asks you to confirm the new version.
