For · UK Sole Traders

An invoice app for UK sole traders.

Tradespeople, consultants, freelancers, contractors - if HMRC sees you as a sole trader and your customers see you as a one-person business, VioBusiness is built for you. UK-made. VAT-aware. Compatible with Self Assessment and MTD bridging software. £15.99 once.

Made for the realities of UK sole-trader life. Send a clean VAT or non-VAT invoice in three taps. Log expenses with receipt photos. Convert quotes to invoices. Year-end CSV that your accountant can drop straight into Self Assessment workings.

i.What sole traders actually need

You're a one-person business. You don't need accounting software designed for a 10-person agency. You need:

VioBusiness gives you all five. Without a £200-£500/year subscription.

ii.VAT-registered or not - it doesn't matter

Most UK sole traders start below the £90,000 VAT threshold and aren't registered. Some register voluntarily; others wait until they have to. Either way:

iii.Self Assessment-ready records

HMRC requires sole traders to keep records of:

VioBusiness stores invoices and expenses in a local database on your phone. Receipt photos attached to expenses give you the evidence HMRC expects. CSV export at year-end gives you (or your accountant) everything needed for the Self Assessment SA103.

vi.Frequently asked

Is this MTD-compatible?
MTD is a submission process, not an invoice requirement. VioBusiness produces digital records that count toward MTD's "digital records" requirement. For VAT return submission, export CSV from VioBusiness and import into MTD bridging software like 123 Sheets, Vital Tax, or QuickFile bridging.
Does it work for CIS (construction) trades?
Yes. You can split labour and materials on invoices and add a CIS deduction line. See our CIS guide.
Can I bill EU clients in EUR?
Yes - and EU clients (B2B) typically reverse-charge the VAT, so you'd invoice at 0% VAT with the reverse charge note. See our VAT guide.
