An invoice app for Australian small businesses, sole traders and consultants.
ABN on every tax invoice. GST handled cleanly. AUD $29.99 once and yours forever - no subscription, no signup. Built for the way Australian small business actually works: from your phone, on the go, fully offline if you need.
i.Built for Australian small business
Australia has one of the world's strongest small-business cultures: ~2.5 million ABNs, a sole-trader majority among self-employed, and a clear, simple GST regime at 10%. Most invoice apps come from the US or UK and don't quite fit - they miss the "tax invoice" terminology, don't handle the ABN-on-every-invoice requirement, and try to sell you a $30/month subscription for what should be a $30 one-off purchase.
VioBusiness is built differently. It's an app you buy once. Your tax invoices look right (the ATO-required fields are baked in). Your customers are stored on your phone, not in someone else's cloud. Your records are exportable to CSV the moment your accountant asks for them.
ii.Pricing for Australia
One-time purchase. No subscription.

5 invoices/month, 5 quotes/month, 10 expenses/month, 50 customers. No signup, no account, no card.
iii. What a valid Australian tax invoice needs
For invoices over AUD $82.50 including GST, the ATO requires specific fields. VioBusiness includes them all by default:
- The words "Tax Invoice" prominently on the document. VioBusiness includes this when you set a GST rate.
- Your business name and ABN. Set once in your Business Profile.
- The date of issue.
- A brief description of the goods/services sold, including quantity.
- The GST amount, or a statement that the total includes GST. VioBusiness itemises GST on a separate line by default.
- The buyer's name or business name and address (for invoices AUD $1,000+).
- The buyer's ABN (for invoices AUD $1,000+ where the buyer is a business).
- The total amount payable.
Set these in the Business Profile and they appear on every invoice. The ATO's full guidance is summarised in our ABN tax invoice guide (coming soon).
iv.GST: simple in Australia
GST in Australia is a flat 10% on most goods and services. Compared to UK VAT (multiple rates), Canada (provincial tax patchwork), or US sales tax (state-by-state), Australian GST is genuinely straightforward.
The main rules:
- Register if your turnover is AUD $75,000+/year (AUD $150,000 for not-for-profits). You must register within 21 days of crossing the threshold.
- Charge 10% GST on most supplies once registered.
- GST-free supplies: basic food, most education, most health, exports of goods/services to overseas customers.
- Input-taxed supplies: financial services, residential rent (you don't charge GST and can't claim input tax credits).
- Quarterly BAS reports to the ATO showing GST collected vs. paid; net amount is owed or refunded.
For VioBusiness users: set 10% GST as your default rate in invoices. Use 0% for exports (to non-Australian clients), and 0% if you're not registered. The CSV export gives you the line-by-line GST data your accountant needs for BAS. See our BAS record-keeping guide (coming soon).
v.Sole traders, partnerships, Pty Ltd, and trusts
VioBusiness adapts to any common Australian business structure:
- Sole trader: Use your personal name in the Business Profile and your ABN. Most common structure for freelancers, consultants, and microbusinesses.
- Partnership: Use the registered partnership name and ABN.
- Pty Ltd company: Use the company name, ACN, and ABN. VioBusiness has space for all three.
- Trust (with a corporate trustee): Same as Pty Ltd, with the trust name on the legal-entity line.
The result: every invoice shows the right legal entity and ABN, satisfying ATO requirements automatically.
vi.Cross-border and international clients
Many Australian small businesses bill clients overseas - US, UK, and Singapore are particularly common. VioBusiness handles this two ways:
- Bill in their currency: Set the invoice currency to USD, GBP, EUR, etc. The PDF renders in their currency; reduces FX friction at the client end.
- GST treatment for exports: Exports of goods and services to non-residents are typically GST-free. Set GST to 0% on the invoice for international clients.
Your records keep the original currency. For BAS reporting, you (or your accountant) convert to AUD using the appropriate rate from the ATO's published exchange rates.
vii.How it works, briefly
Tax invoices
Tap "New Invoice" → pick a customer (or create inline with their ABN) → add line items → confirm GST → tap Send. The tax invoice PDF generates on your phone. Share via Mail, AirDrop, WhatsApp - any app the OS shares to.
Quotes
Build a quote with the same tools. When accepted, convert to an invoice with one tap. The line items, GST, and dates carry over.
Expenses
Track every business expense for BAS input tax credits. Attach a receipt photo from your library (the ATO requires evidence for claims). Filter by category. Export to CSV for your bookkeeper.
Recurring invoices
Monthly retainers run themselves - set a frequency once, VioBusiness issues the next invoice automatically.
Multi-currency
Bill in AUD, USD, GBP, EUR, NZD, SGD, or any of 20+ currencies. Per invoice.
